About the Author

Hello blog readers!

My name is Mattie Worley and I’m a University of Pittsburgh graduate with my B.S. in Rehabilitation Sciences and will start DPT classes at the University of Southern California August 2015.

I have been working with professionals in this field since 7th grade where I helped the ATC with the middle school’s wrestling team. After that fateful decision to get involved, I knew that this was something I could see myself doing in the future. Upon entering high school, I worked with the football, track, cheerleading, soccer, and volleyball teams as the head student athletic trainer where I prevented and tended to wounds and injuries common to each sport. During high school I also shadowed hospital PT clinics, low-income/minority PT clinics, and special-needs PT clinics and camps along with volunteering at a local assisted living home.

I have continued my involvement in this field in college as well by joining Pitt’s Rehabilitation Science Student Association (RSSA), volunteering at hospitals’ pediatrics PT clinics, and shadowing at a prosthetic and orthotic clinic. Relevant coursework I’ve taken includes anatomy & physiology, athletic training, and written professional communications. The latter course doesn’t seem related however, it’s the reason I’ve started this blog. It is through this course that I can explore the professional and business side of physical therapy and how to best represent myself in my field through my writing.

It is my wish that you all enjoy reading this blog as much as I enjoy writing it. Physical therapy and rehabilitation is my passion in life and I truly hope that comes across in my writing and extracurricular activities. If you ever have any questions about either me or my blog content, please do not hesitate to ask! Comments are welcome and will be responded to in a timely manner to the best of my ability.

Enjoy, Hail to Pitt, and Fight On!
